Broken Orbee

Recently I saw a new type of squirt gun that shoots these small balls that explode upon impact. At first they looked hard, almost like ice pellets, but yesterday I was given one. It's called an Orbee, and apparently they have been around since the '60s. (http://www.orbeezone.com/the-science-of-orbeez/)

It's a small ball that you place in water and it grows as they absorb the water. It's original intent was for irrigation during a drought, but since then they have advanced to more everyday uses, such as squirt gun ammunition.

Yesterday I was given the bag that contained an Orbee, but somewhere in the transition of house to children's altar, it broke. All that was left inside was the gelatin fragments. It could no longer be used for much. And as I held the cold wet pieces in my hand it hit me that this is like our world.

In the beginning God made it, it was new, perfect, and full of potential. Then sin entered the world, and it left it in pieces that weren't much good at all. But then Jesus came, died on the cross, and made it possible for everything to be put back together. (It would have been really cool if I was an illusionist and had planned this and was able to put it back together).

Our lives are like a broken Orbee, pieces that really aren't that useful. But when Jesus is invited to enter your life, the pieces can be put back together, and the possibilities are limitless.

Peace be with you
