The last 48ish hours of my life have been a little hectic. I wasn't at church Sunday, the bag was there, but I was not. I had planned to be there, but circumstances arouse that were out of my control, and the pastor missed church. But even in this, it's awesome to see God still working.
It all began Saturday evening. Janette and I were watching The Dark Knight. She was laying on the couch, and she said her shoulder felt really far from her neck. She went to sit up, and her neck went into spasm as we found out later. She said that it shot down her back on the left side and that her left arm went numb. After about an hour she drove to the house of the lady from church she stays with when she's here. I was thinking, after she slept it would feel better.
At 6 am, I was woken up by her calling to say I needed to take her to the emergency room. We got there at 7, and as we were walking into the hospital I got a text message from a pastor friend asking when service was telling me he was on vacation and coming to hear me. I told him, and then let him know about my current whereabouts.
As the time passed and we were still waiting to be seen, I ended up texting my pastor friend and asking if he could possibly preach that morning. He said he'd be honored.
I got to see God in two ways in this situation, and that's how it applies to the bag, we can see God in everything. One it gave me the chance to put Janette first. My mentor has told me so many times, "I will fail as a pastor before I ever fail as a husband or father. Someone else can do the work of the church, but no one else can be a husband to my wife or a father to my children." His mentality for everyone at the church is "Family first." This is one of those opportunities God gave me without me even realizing what was going on. I didn't realize that is what I had done until someone pointed it out yesterday.
Secondly, God wanted my pastor friend to address the church on Sunday. The fact that he happened to be taking a vacation week from his own church duties, and the fact that he happened to be planning to visit the church here, all at the same time Janette has a really bad muscle spasm and I miss church, that's not coincidence.
God works in all situations, sometimes to get His will to happen He has to do things in strange ways. God is involved in everything.
Peace be with you
