Pokemon Card

Yesterday I learned that Pokemon is still a big deal to kids. I remember when it came out, I was in fourth grade, and as I found out yesterday, it's changed a lot since I was a kid.

Pokemon are these made up creatures that exist in a video game. In the game you go around and catch them and use them for battles with other Pokemon. It's also a card game that you can play. You use a Pokemon and then give it different advantages based on the cards that you play. But it's all about this idea of battle.

We are in a battle. We have a real enemy, Satan. In 1 Peter 5.8 it says, "Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." I've talked about this verse on my other blog, Give Me Words in a post titled, The Enemy.

We have a real enemy that wants to destroy us. We are in battle with an evil spiritual force. But the best part is that the enemy has already been defeated. Jesus, with His death and resurrection, won the battle that determined the outcome of the war. The cross and the empty tomb was the D-Day of history. We still have battles to fight before the war is over, so we can't drop our guard and ignore Satan, but victory is assured and in that we find hope and encouragement.

Jesus has won the battle, and we are on the side that wins the war. Stand firm, keep fighting, we will stand in victory with Him.

Peace be with you
