My wife has been asking me for a dog for several months now. She has the breed picked out and the dog is already named. I'm a dog person, and really want one, just not at this moment in life. This summer is the first summer we have as a married couple and I'd love to be able to spend it with her. I want to be able to just go on our day off and not have to worry about letting the dog out. Plus we're going to Israel next January, and I don't want the stress of having to find someone to watch the dog for two weeks.
We will at some point be getting a dog, and of course she wants a puppy. The thing with puppies is they need to be trained in every thing. The way to do this is with rewards every time the dog does what it is supposed to do, and dog biscuits are great rewards. My parents hated when I would come home from school because I would spoil the dog with a biscuit every time I walked past the box. I love that dog.
We reward our pets for doing the right things. And God rewards those who are faithful to Him. Paul at the end of his second letter to Timothy says this, "For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing" (verses 6-8).
Jesus said in John 14, "In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also" (verses 2-3).
God has the ultimate reward for those who are faithful to Him. We will be welcomed into His presence. We will receive the crown of righteousness and hear Him say, "Well done." God loves to bless His children.
To God alone be the glory!
Peace be with you
